This CE lesson equips insurance professionals to identify common residential roofing failures, determine credible remedies, and translate technical findings into defensible claim narratives. It develops diagnostic proficiency across five high-frequency problem categories—leaks and water intrusion, shingle deterioration, workmanship defects, structural instability, and ventilation imbalance—emphasizing how each condition manifests and why it escalates when ignored. Participants then analyze solution pathways, distinguishing repairable conditions from end-of-service-life or systemic failures that warrant replacement, and evaluating targeted interventions such as waterproofing, correct shingle installation, structural reinforcement, and balanced ventilation design. The instruction explicitly links observable symptoms to probable root causes so that conversations with contractors and adjusters remain precise and testable. The claims segment formalizes best practices in documentation and evidence gathering, including photo standards, written descriptions, and third-party assessments that strengthen causation and scope determinations. A hail-damage scenario synthesizes the workflow by requiring participants to classify damage, select an appropriate remedy, and specify the documentation needed to support coverage and settlement decisions.
